Jacquie and Theunis' love story began after meeting at The Oxpecker Trail Run, through mutual friends. Through broken chats between songs at the Stiff-Legged-Jol, and dancing next to each other in a group of Theunis' friends and family, a little spark was ignited.

 

Only a week later, they went on a dinner date, this time for a pizza and a shared bottle of red wine. Jacquie laughed all night, while Theunis threw all the best lines he'd ever heard to win her over. Needless to say, Jacquie got caught - hook, line and sinker! Before they knew it, days rolled into weeks - and the most special friendship was formed.

It seemed that three things only mattered:

 

1. That Theunis kept his jokes rolling

2. As long as Jacquie was laughing, his jokes were working

3. The more time spent together made the first two points happen over and over again.

 

It was clear that this was turning into something more special than just a friendship. Needless to say, a few months down the line, and every weekend together, Theunis asked Jacquie's father for her hand.

 

Jacques was more excited than Theunis was, to finally guarantee that his daughter would speak Afrikaans for the rest of her life.

 

Two weeks later, Theunis planned a beautiful horse ride into the baby Drakensburg mountains, to a beautiful waterfall. Jacquie, suspecting nothing, packed a picnic hamper to her own engagement party.

 

It was a long 4 hour ride up into the mountains, and when finally at the top, Theunis got down on one knee and asked Jacquie to spend forever with him. Jacquie burst into tears, and said the easiest "YES!" she has ever said in her life. The rest of the story?
